I have a Fluval Sea nano tank. My question is: does anyone run their protein skimmer only a few times a week and is this successful? Especially interested in hearing from the smaller tank parameter guts/gals.
Any cons that anyone experienced??

I travel alot for work so having a pet sitter monitor or adjust/dial in parameter should foam not be at right spot is just too much.

I made the decision to run the skimmer the days I am home only. I get a lil stuff but nothing significant on days I've run it while home.
Just wondering if I am spinning my Venturi "wheels" fruitlessly?! Thx.

I was looking into a similar situation recently. I have a 20g with a skimmer and hadn't been getting much stuff. What you're suggesting sounds like a plan. I did see some comments about turning the skimmer on and off. Apparently the motor will wear out quickly if you're turning it off and on frequently I.e with a timer. You're not suggesting this but I still thought I should mention it.
