Sailfin has what apper to be small holes in top fin anyone have any idea what these might be or is it something else have recently perchesed from lfs

I’ve seen that before and was not too concerned about it. I always attributed it to bite marks - it is almost like these juvenile tangs use their long fins as batfish do - to displace aggression to non-critical areas of their bodies. I see a little damage to its lower fin that has begun to heal up.

Of course, that conclusion is based on this fish being in with some species that is capable of doing that. What are its tankmates?

Thanks for your reply Jay it must have had them from the lfs there is only a pair of clowns and clean up crew in the tank at the moment
