Tangs are not always reef safe. I've had a red sea sailfin, chevron, yellow, and a blue hippo pick at LPS or zoo's. My buddy has a blue hippo that picks open brains.

I have a duss now that doesn't pick anything, but I will not add any other tang to my reef again after all the bad experiences I had with them picking.

I've had several tangs do extreme numbers on entire colonies.
The worst were hippo tangs, and I had a purple tang that started to go after a colony, but I was able to get him to swim into a fish trap right away and didn't lose much.
I also know that once they think your zoanthids are a food source, none of your zoanthids will be safe.

I have had blue hippos picking them.
This morning I noticed a few of my Zoa's were looking real bad off. Sure enough as i camped out at tank all morning I caught the sailfin in the act. As soon as John gets home I'll go get his trap. He's out of there

I saw my Blue tang and Sailfin tang enjoy to tear down the Pink zipper frag and finished the frag to the base. Both of them end up at lfs.

yes ...I have issue with yellow and hippo tang eating them too! I think it started when algae grows on the plug or trunk of the zoa/paly.

My yellow and purple tang are good behavior. The blue and sailfin are eat zoas but I think it was my fault of not provided enough algae (or veggie) for them.

My Flame angle even more wicked...she nipped every single for fun, not eating but she caused zoas scare to open...
