Salt water drops forming on the edge of your tank - and relatively 'salty air' - i.e. small drops (even almost microscopic) - of salt water building up. If you try to minimize small bubbles at the top of your tank, and use a damp wet (with fresh water) and wipe the area down - it should solve the problem. its called 'salt creep'

just general evaporation. the moisture that collects then evaporates leaving the salt behind.

That salt really be creepin. If you add a computer fan to circulate air under the hood it'll reduce salt creep. Another thing that works for some is a bead of silicone around the outside edge of the lid to help seal the lid.
