Here is my old BB 120. Once the bottom is grown in it looks good just takes time thats all.
About 2.5 years from pic 1 to 2.

I only use dolomite gravel, no longer available. It has been in my reef since about 1972 or so and never been changed, just added to. I use it because I also use an undergravel filter. :D

Thats dating yourself. Undergravel what? I remember the days. I do have a 30g remote with 3"+ sandbed. My 45 has a 1"sandbed that I just added 7lbs of sand to after 3+years running.
Gota love the age of your system!

I voted "other" because I like to put sand in so I can take it back out. It works great to fill in the squirrel holes in my retaining wall.

I don’t think I will ever have a bare bottom tank. I love how it looks more natural with the sand even though it is harder to keep it clean.
