The red corals in my tank seem to change and lose their bright red hue. Especially the red polyps. I’m hoping after the settle in for a few months, they will bring back their reddish look. This is my Turbo Fire. First pic when I got it. It’s encrusted and growing, but losing its red color. The top branch in the second picture has grown about 3/4“. Color is fading to a pinkish color. That’s consistent in my tank with all my red colors. Pretty sure it’s my lighting.

Nice pics. The same thing happened to mine. The polyps are not quite as red. However the coralites on mine are developing more a blue and the base more of a green.

This is my Wirley Wonka. Picture from today is a bad picture, but you can see the tops are transitioning to blue colors vice the original reddish pink.

Here, this is better. I added a yellow filter and this looks more correct.

Did you also get the Adam Eve freebie? If so, would love to see the before and after on that one.
No, I do not have that one. The last freebie I got was the St Patrick. It’s settling in well, but no color change yet.

Do you dose any trace or anything?
I dose the KZ1234 weekly and dose iodine daily. I use Seachem’s Iodide. After trial and error, I dose about 0.3 ml of iodide a day and that keeps my iodine level at around 70 ug/l. The Kz1234 recommends around 40 ml each for my size tank, but I only dose 25 ml each per week. Reason being I do daily water changes through an apex and that adds trace elements as well. My ICP test I do every 3 months and they are pretty good usually at 95% in the grove.

This is one I’m watching closely. SBB Power Puff. First pic is 12 September. Second pic today. Taking on a more greenish color. Of all the corals I got in September, it’s the one that has remained the fuzziest. I’ve got my newer frags in three different locations. Some are getting 450 PAR, some 350 and some 300 Or less. I’m definitely seeing all corals, even all tennis don’t like the same high PAR level. Some like it high and some like it a bit lower. Some of the non tennis seem to do best at 250 PAR. This Power Puff likes the 450 and probably would like higher if I could give it to it. Once I’ve got a good feel about who likes what, I can do some rearranging to try and make everyone their happiest.

I stopped dosing Iodine because apparently flatworm stop has it in there too. My last ICP it was a little high but not crazy. I just sent off another ICP along with my new RO water just to check it

FWS does raise it. Is that 186 with both FWS and Iodine dosing too? Apparently the iodine in FWS isn’t really the usable type, or something like that

Yes this was with dosing both. So i stopped dosing seachem just to see how low it will drop just doing FWS. I get my new ICP this coming week so it will be a month of data

I’m liking your before and afters. The before here reminds me of your glittering charms. Is that one holding the orange polyps?
