I bought two heads (3 mouths) of candy cane coral yesterday. I didn't think much of the frag's flesh as I thought that it was just shriveled because it was stressed. It showed tentacles this night. What should I do? Is there a possibility of it surviving? 20240302_082043.jpg
PS: what to do with algae on gsp?

could be settling in, but that tank looks new. What are your nutrient levels?
It is 3 months old, ammonia - 0, NO2 - 0.1, NO3 - 20, PO4 - undetectable, Ca - 395, Mg - 1350, kH - 9.5, pH - 8.0, Salinity - 1.0255, RODI water TDS - undetectable.

What kind of lights do you have? Do you have any powerheads in the tank? Algae should not grow on corals.

I bought it yesterday. I have a Jebao SOW and AI Prime 16 HD. I does get enough flow, almost fully opened but hid for no reason now. The store said it can probably open in a week because they have just gotten it. It looked good in the shop. Should i try to scrub the algae? 20240302_134630.jpg

Was there flesh down the stalk when you got it? It doesn't look good, but the stalk looks like it's been bare for a while. The heads shouldn't pull back over the skeleton though. Shouldn't look like this:

Mine will swell and shrink throughout the day. Try an iodine dip. Do you have something like Brightwell restor? That may help too.

That said, I know dead coral, bringing them back I'm less good at...

Yes it was bare before. I don't know how to dip it (besides the fact that I have no dip-substances) as it is glued to the rock. I want to clarify: it is healthy but it will not puff up?

Just won't puff? That's an easy fix. Calm down and have a beer (you guys make some great beer up north).

There is very little flesh, it should be going down the stem. That being said I think it is not to far gone and can definitely be restored to optimal health. My only concern is your phosphate, they definitely need to be raised to help this coral. I recommend getting them to.05-.1, here are two of mine.

How can I do it? I only have phosphate removers available. Should I just "feed" the tank more?

Feed more often, but smaller amounts. Fish poop is good for corals and for micro organisms.... rotting food is bad for water quality and will fuel algae.

I sent off my clownfish because they were sick... No fish for 80 days. Btw it loses color in some places. I tried feeding when it showed it's tentacles but it didn't want mysis I guess

Reef Roids raises phosphate and do less export, turn off the skimmer decrease frequency and amount of water changes.

Update:
It gained some colour, it is almost splitted and has 4 mouths. My PO4 is now 0.1 ppm. The gsp is doing perfectly fine with no algae which i scraped off with a brush. Thank you for your help :)

Following. I'm having the same problem. My parameters are in range. I've moved it all around from high to low flow moderate to low light, still no luck
