Update:

Got a new light (Kessil A360X), changed the rockwork and added some coral. Trying to be patient enough to let things grow out now...

Hi all,

I have perused these forums and asked for advice for a little while but I haven't really introduced myself. I started this tank in November, 2018, and I'm hooked. I have adjusted things as I have gone along, run into some minor problems and an ugly case of bristleworms, which I got from a rock with shrooms a friend gave me. I have come to terms with the worms and think they have settled into whatever they are going to be (population has not exploded and maybe even subsided). And they do seem to be doing a good job keeping detritus down.

I started with a few chromis and a couple damsels. They pestered each other to death until there was only two crazy *** damsels left, and they had to go back to the store before I put any more fish in. I also lost my favorite fish, a diamond goby who had so much personality. "Bubba" committed suicide and jumped out of the tank, likely at some point while I was changing water and had my back turned (I have a cover but take it off for feeding/maintenance). My other biggest problem has been trying to get a bubble tip anemone to grow before my two amorous Clarkii Clowns love it to death.

Livestock:
Fish:
2 Clarkii Clowns
Banded Goby (Sifts the sand but not nearly as personable as Bubba.:(
Lawnmower Blenny
Neon Dottyback
Six-line wrasse

Inverts:
Skunk cleaner shrimp
Arrow crab (bristleworm eater...)
Nasarius snails, turbo snails, trochus snails, hermits

Corals:
Frogspawn branching
Hammer branching
Zoanthids
Palys
Blue shrooms
Mummy-eye chalice
Micromussa lords (3)
Favias (3)
Green Star Polyp
White Daisy Polyp
Green Birds Nest

Parameters:
Salinity: 1.026
Temp: 79
Amm: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 10-20 ppm (seems to fluctuate a little)
Phosphate: 0
Calcium: 420
Alkalinity: 9

I would suggest simply giving it some time. They will eventually settle in a spot where they like the combination of light and flow. Unfortunately, that spot is not always where we would prefer them to settle.

Yeah, I'll try to be patient (not my strong suit, which probably is not ideal for this hobby but I'm hooked.:))

Wow, your nem is pretty deep in the rockwork, but that clown sure is determined to love him!

Yeah he is. Funny thing is, I was trying to be clever when I created the 'scape.' I wanted to make sure there was some space for flow and for fish to swim through so there are little caves and openings in the rockwork. Turns out I created the perfect little dome for the nem. Can't really see it in the photo but he has room to expand almost fully and even gets some light. He may stay there a while.SMH ;)
