Im setting up a 115 gallon fowlr tank with around 10 ish fish but i'm going to run a canister filter instead of a sump. I don't want to run a hang on back skimmer because of overflowing. Could I rig a regular skimmer up to my display in any way or can I run purigen in my canister. Any help would be appreciated

A skimmer serves a different purpose than a canister filter or purigen. I'm not aware of any that can run outside of the display (aside from having it in a sump). If you can provide good gas exchange/oxygenate the water, and if you are able to control nutrients through water changes and regular cleaning of the filter, you can certainly get away with not having a skimmer. It seems like you will be stocking lightly so that's a plus.

For what it's worth, the Aquamaxx 1.5 HOB skimmer is a good one and might be worth trying... I used one for about a year with absolutely no problems.

I have a 40b with a Fluval FX4 canister and it isn't any good for Saltwater ifnits the only filtration component. It's great for mechanical filtration, reactors, and UV though so id keep it, but also get a skimmer. My Aquamaxx Bullet 3 doesn't spill over, it's easily adjusted, looks cool, only has a tiny pipe in the tank, and works really well. I'd feel confident running it on 100g for sure.
