I picked up t]his one around 4 inches. Six inches now. I’ve read they lose their blue color. Anyone have any clue at what size they fade. Still blue but now has red spots that were not there at four inches.

I had to check out this fish. My book states that when small,@ 4 to 6 inches, it is a mimic of various Halichoeres wrasse. It resembles them in color and swimming pattern. When it gets close to an unsuspecting fish, the fish becomes a meal. They get quite large, 50 cm.

Thx. Of course I’m hoping that it stays blue for a while. Anyway I’ve got plenty of room in my big tank, but it’s got to grow up a lot more.

It’s been another 6 months. Moving to a larger tank so I thought I’d take a pic. Just over 7 inches long. It’s a cryptic fish and always hides. Still retaining the cobalt blue even in these pics where it is stressed.
