What Corals do you have in your tank that are the first to indicate your parameters are getting out of whack. For my it's my mystic sunset monti. As soon as phosphates start to rise or things get off a little it starts to retract polyps and the color starts to fade.

Wouldnt the birds nest be the last thing to go in a sps tank?

Like my Acro's would RTN before my birds nest would even flinch at something being wrong.

I don't think thats a canary, unless your flipping the roles.

My LPS always seem to have very dramatic reactions to issues, very noticeable and usually lets me know something is up.

They’ve let me know a few things, like when my magnet for my ATO split and rusted into the tank, or when I overdid it adjusting my lights.

Birdsnest in my experience are sensitive corals that are not as hardy as people say.

However for me it has to be Vivids Rainbow Delight. Goes brown first if parameters swing.

While not an SPS or even LPS, my gorgonian is the very first coral to react if things are wrong. If it's not full and bushy, something is amiss.
