Hello everyone!
I've been out of the hobby almost 13 years but I'm jumping right back in with a 360 gallon (6'L×4'W× 2'H) peninsula tank from customaquariums.com.
I just paid for the tank and now I need to custom build a stand. It's no problem for me as I have a shop and welders. But, The question I have is, What size steel should I be using? I'm thinking 2×2× 3/16"? What has everyone else used on their stands?

Thanks! I was worried about the thickness being enough to support the 4000lbs of tank, rock and water

That tank supported a little over 2k-lbs with no issues for roughly 2yrs.

Depending on your tank/stand layout, you could opt to go with annealed (high strength) square tube, at your desired thickness providing you with peace of mind. I used the strength calculation dialog box (AutoCAD Mechanical Toolset) to determine the requirements and then bumped it up to next thickness sold (FYI, hot-rolled is/was cheaper) for my peace of mind.
