I have a 60g 4 foot long mixed reef tank that been running for over half a year.
As of right now, I have:
2 clownfish
1 bangeye cardinal
1 carptenter wrasse
1 melanurus wrasse

I was wondering how many new fish I can add and if anyone has some good suggestions that would be ok with my current fish.
I had in mind:
1 yellow watchman goby
1 small yellow tang that I would give to another hobbyist once it outgrows my tank.

It’s hard to give an exact number for how many fish you can keep. The bio load, size, and aggression are all important to keep in mind. Those two fish are definitely fine. I’m not the person to go tang police (I’ve never kept one), but if you get a tiny one (Calptive bred ones are tiny) it’ll be fine for a period of time. You’re tank has plenty of room for more fish (assuming the fish you have at the moment aren’t large). What others were you thinking of adding?

I see. What do you think makes Yellow Tangs iffy?

I wouldn’t put a Sailfin in a 60 for any length of time. Or any Zebrasoma Tang. IMO the smaller ones (all except the Sailfin) would do best in a 5’+, 100+ gallon tank long term and Sailfins need to be in at least an 8’ 240g+ long term. I don’t believe most Sailfins reach the 16-18” maximum sizes but I’d still expect them to get 11-12”.

Instead of giving it away, maybe consider a smaller species of Tang like a Bristletooth? Tomini, Square Tail, White Tail, Kole etc. though IMO they’d do best in at least a 4’ 75, 90 even better.

The YWG and shrimp combo would be great. Add a basslet, a dwarf angel and that’s pretty much it.

Flame hawkfish are great, but they will eat your shrimp. It may say online or in your LFS that they 'may' attack shrimp, but if you look at people's experiences, you will see there is a 99% chance of loosing shrimp. I had one that ate my blood cleaner shrimp within two days of being added. I took it out before it could take a shot at my pistol shrimp.
As for suggestions, I have a million. Do you want suggestions for alternatives of a hawkfish or just suggestions in general for a 60 gallon?

I only have one shrimp in my tank and it's a big coral banded shrimp that pretty mean and will snap at all the fish. Do you think it will still eat him? For suggestions I'm open to anything.

If we’re talking about reef safety, Coral Beauty (available Captive Bred), Pygmy Cherub (available Captive Bred), Pygmy Flameback (available Captive Bred) are among the most reef safe. Flame shouldn’t be too bad either. Rusty is similar to the Coral Beauty.

Half Black and a couple of the other ones are considered hardy too but not sure how reef safe they are. Eibli is the Indian Ocean equivalent of the Half Black.

If you want something more rare and expensive, Joculator and Japanese Dwarf (Interruptus, maybe gets too large).

The hawkfish will eat it. It may not be right away if the hawkfish is smaller, but the hawkfish will eventually get it.
