I am looking to purchase an internal/external overflow box from TaylorPilot here on R2R and wanting to know if one could use the Stockman Standpipe instead of using 180 degree elbows (Animal Bean overflow setup) All I see is the use of the Elbows which when turning off the return pump it traps air and takes awhile to purge once you turn return pump back on. Where as it appears the Stockman Standpipe will not have the air trapping issue. But there has to be a reason why the Elbows are used since that is all I see being used for this setup. What would be the reason?
