I store mine in a 100g norwesco vertical storage tank that I bought from tractor supply. Never dealt with ammonia in rodi, so can't help ya there, sorry. Are you sure the test kit works on rodi and not only saltwater (no idea just a thought). I agree with others though, use a nsf container and make sure it's clean. My tank had a threaded bulkhead stock on the bottom so that's how I installed the spigot.

Have you guys found any widemouth open top containers that would be easier to clean

I installed unions on mine so I can take them apart to clean outside. I’ve been running them 6 months though and they are spotless on the inside. I mix my salt for a couple of hours and then pump straight into my tank. It probably helps that I have a jebao 10000 2640 gph pump installed.

The openings are 4 1/2 inches.

Sorry, what do u mean by unions? Can u get to the bottom of your tank to clean it out? Thanks.

The circled parts are unions. I can unscrew them and take both tanks outside seperately. Then just pressure wash them if needed. Although like I said they have been up and running for six months and still are crystal clean inside at the bottom.

I don’t store mine, I use 1 tank to fill and mix, turn a few values removes the water from the 150 and turn a value puts back the mix water

Ive used the 32 gallon grey brutes for years without issue. Keep them covered.

Just for giggles, I tested my RO/DI water in my brute for NH3 and it's 0.

I will say that even though I store rodi in a norwesco tank, I mix fresh salt in a brute 32 as well. Can't go wrong there. The only reason I got the norwesco for rodi is because I wanted to make/store a lot more at once and they don't make 100g brutes

From you initial post, what is "off the charts for ammonia"? and what test kit do you use?
Would give the brute a good cleaning with vinegar and dip any pumps you may be using to circulate in vinegar for a bit.
