Hey guys, my name is Edo Viega writing directly from Brazil. I have been a saltwater aquarist since 2010 and kept fresh water tanks since 1994 (9yo). Various degrees of “success” have been achieved since them but the game changer for me was buying a good RODI system in 2016 and afterwards moving to Palhoça/SC were I have access to natural seawater. This made things much more affordable and easy to handle.
Although my tanks were not exceptionally beautiful I have been a big enthusiast of our hobby. This made me run my own small YT channel were a I had the chance to interview some big names like Julian Sprung, Dana Riddle, Jake Addams, Lou Ekus, Ron from Maxspect, Mark Levenson, Mark Callaham, Ehsan Dashti, some Brazilian monsters like Marco Martins and Junio Melo and so on. Bellow goes the link for those interview series. They are conducted in both English (some German, Chinese too) and Portuguese, which is my main audience is composed of.
My current main building is this Frag/Grow out, Acro Dominant 440l tank. The display dimensions are 1,50m x 0,70m x 0,30m all kept with natural seawater and 15% WC every two weeks. Lights are Maxspect Razor, 2un Maxspect Mazarra and 4x54w ATI. All tuned up for maximal intensity. I keep my parameters at:
NO3: 0,5ppm
PO4: 0,02ppm
Ca: 405ppm
KH: 8dKH
Mg: 1350ppm
SG: 1,025dSG
Temp: 26°C +/- 0,5°C
I miss a proper display… My former one was a Jumbo Fish tank that I brought back when I used to live in China. Boy… it was a huge headache to keep it as a Saltwater tank (80cm tall). If you guys would like more information on it, let me know in the comments and I will make a post about it.
So I got tired of not having a proper place for my animals (and for being a cheap ******* till now)! I decide to make a top of the notch reef room. I decided to make the SUPER REEF Room (my YT channel name hehehehe). This room is at my basement, shared with my woodworking workshop (another of my hobbies) and currently a mess/fish tank room which is circa 4mx4m. YES! There is a lot of dust and it is hellish hot inside. To keep the temperature stable there is a 3/4hp Chiller behind the wall.
This project has been created a few months ago but only in January/21 I decide to conclude and execute it. It began with the CAD drawing, AC installation and sliding door installation which happened 4th February. On the 9th February the woodworker will come here to take the measurements and in 40days I might have it installed.
Stay tuned for the next posts! SUPER REEF Room has finally took off!
