Moved everyone to the 100 gallon last night, so they're still a bit skittish. Most of the wrasses are still hiding, but starting to peek out. The 3 butterflies and the lemonpeel angel were all begging for food 15 minutes after going in.

Snapped a few more pics today and picked up a Pakistani butterfly (Chaetodon collare) already eating pellets and frozen within 5 minutes of going in the tank!
That's a really nice looking semilarvatus. The klein's looks nice as well (and do a pretty good job at eating majano anemones), the capistratus usually adapts poorly to captivity even though it's an Atlantic fish and should be easier due to less transit time etc.I really like this one but 350 is a little too much
I've tried 2 capistratus, and both failed to adapt, even when given their own system and everything they could dream of for food.
Chaetodon kleini is an excellent choice, can be kept with certain corals (though that depends on the individual fish), is hardy, and usually adapts to a variety of prepared foods. Also is one of the smaller butterflies.

This is another species on my list for my butterfly tank. Just need to find a nice one locally that's been at the store for a while. Had my eye on one the past couple weeks, I may grab it if it's still there. I like them to be at the store at least 30 daysFound my Male CBB
I occasionally see triangulum/baronessa, and chrysostomus at a LFS near me. Usually they are direct imports
Any chance you can get them eating and sell to me?

Snapped some quick pics today. The Rhino bannerfish (Heniochus varius) is becoming one of my favorite butterflies I've ever kept. Eats everything, even pellets, and it has such a cool personality. The pelvic fins remind me of mickey mouse ears.
I've been enjoying your tank photos. The H. varius is a bucket list fish for me. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be much 1st-hand care info about the species.
Nah, I don't ship fish. If I come across a healthy one of those, which is rare, and I can get it eating, which is also rare, it's going to stay in my tanks
I saw the same as far as 1st hand care. Mine has been bulletproof for a butterfly. Came in good shape, eating just about everything, including pellets. No outward signs of damage when purchased, and prophylactically treated for prazi-resistant flukes, ich, velvet, uronema, and brooklynella
Just got a male CBB to pair up with the female. I had the female for the last month, and the male since 4/12/2024. She is eating well and regularly had huge stomach every evening as the light turn out. Gain a lot of weight since I got her. He is larger by .75 inch. He is thin but is disease free as far as I can tell. The system he was in have invertebrate in it, so no copper. I am gun shy, ever since I could not get the last CBB pair to live. By today, he started to eat frozen mysis already, but not anywhere near as aggressive as she or as the Convict Tang in the QT system.

just thought I would share. my 200.275 IM peninsula is in the cycling process! tank will be dwarfs angels and butterflies with a wrasse or 2 mixed in.
my understanding is Chaetodon bennetti is a coralvore anyway have success with this fish?
