He may have gotten himself on an urchin honestly. However I need to know if there is any other possibility it is something else, and what I should do about it? tempImagexZMx9m.png tempImagedkV2K6.png

Bad spot for an injury, it can easily involve critical organs.

Any other symptoms? Rapid breathing, not eating, etc.?

There is an internal fungal issue that is sometimes seen, Icthyphonus hoferi is the old name, not sure what the new name is. It can cause erupting lesions like this, but it is internal, so isn't treatable.

I can't tell if he is heavy breathing or not, it seems slightly more rapid than usual.

food does not treat wounds but helps with stamina and depends on type of foods fed
Jay is asking if fish still eating, functioning well, elevated breathing would be gasping in distress
I agree based on location this may not be treatable and become infected
Best is to place fish if you choose to treat it , do so in a sterile using seachem kanaplex which is absorbed by the fish and provide added oxygen with an air stone

I was asking about ingestible medication I realized I made a mistake as soon as I said it. I just meant can I feed it seachem metroplex and focus? and do you mean put him in some tank water in a decent sized "quarantine" type tank and give him some medicine?

also no gasping for air, he eats twice a day, and swims all around all day

No, food won’t treat this, other than providing energy for the fish to heal its tissues.
Hopefully this is just a superficial injury and will heal on its own.

Metroplex likely wont heal this and is tricky to use as it has to be applied to food precisely which is .05 weight which can be tricky to acheive
