To canopy or not to canopy

Hey all,
I have a 210 aqeon. I am thinking off upgrading my lighting from radion g4 pro to the G6. I have my current light mounted to my diy canopy but I was thinking of putting the G6 lights on the rms rail. What do you guy think. Pros and cons of canopy and rail. I know Evap but what else?

Depends on where your tank is in your home. My last couple of tanks have been in my home office and the light spill from an open top has irritated me when working at my desk. My new tank will have a canopy

My tank is in my basement not worried about light spilling I come down to enjoy and do maintenance otherwise not down there much

I like a canopy as it prevents my kids from looking directly up into the light. Perhaps not a concern for you though.

So I guess I am looking for the benefits of a canopy. I guess I could use the rms bar and have a canopy made in case I don’t like the look

Helps a bit with noise and contains jumping fish and water for splashing fish.

What about a floating canopy?
Having to life a canopy to do maintenance is a pain.
I'm a 64 year old woman. So I got rid of mine. Much easier. I would like a floating canopy. But my diy skills are not that good.

I have a removable canopy that i built for my 90. It keeps the light spillage in and is aesthetically nice looking to me. Now if i had a rimless tank I would not go this route and just deal with it. But i hate the black rims.

My LFS makes custom canopies so you push a button and it raises straight up vertically for maintenance. Pretty cool with a little power jack motor.
