Howdy all!

I've decided to post a topic of the week each week on Wednesdays. Something to get some discussions going.
Please answer as detailed as you'd like and pictures are encouraged!

This week, Wed 1/22/14 - Dosing

  1. What are you dosing in your tanks? (please give tank specs/water volume/etc)
  2. How are you dosing - manually or automatic? (and how often)
  3. What supplements are you using now and what changes have you seen?
  4. What supplements have you tried in the past, and what were your good/bad experiences?
  5. What questions do you have on dosing?
Also, feel free to contribute other things related to dosing that aren't included above. Again, pictures are ENCOURAGED!!:pop2:

I will update on our tanks after work tonight or tomorrow, as I have to leave the reefing forums to get ready for work (BOOOO!!!)

Have fun Ya'll

I am currently dosing calcium, alkalinty, and magnesium dyi additives. I am dosing 70 ml. of ca, and alk. 24 times a day through a dosing pump. Magnesium is dosed at 20 ml. a day. Since setting up on a dosing pump i have noticed a huge difference in the way my corals look. Dyi additives are so much cheaper and they work great.

90 ml alk - B-ionic, dose 24 times per day
AcroPower 20ml per week, dosed 1 time per day.

Working on potassium. It's currently < 390, slowly raising by adding 50ml per day.

Thanks everyone for your input so far! Let's see some more responses!!!

What kind of DYI additives are you using?
Any recipes to share? Or links to them?

I kinda sorta dose Red Sea ABC+ manually and a capful of Iron a week.

How long have you been dosing Iron?
Why did you start?
Are you seeing any differences?

I've heard a lot of good things about B-ionic. Is this the only thing you've used?

I currently dose BRS 2-part, 65ml of each over 24 hours a day via BRS dosers.

How are you liking the BRS 2-part? Is it the BRS equivalent of B-ionic? And did I read on the other forum you were contemplating switching? If so, why?

We have a 125g, 30g, and a 40 breeder.

We haven't been on schedule with dosing in a while but...

Seachem Reef Fusion 2 part (calcium and alkalinity) - We were dosing this a few times a week
Aqua Vitro Fuel - once a week
Brightwell Vitamin C - every few days
Iodine on occassion

We are using these mostly because we have won supplements at just about every big event we've been to. We have supplements to last a long time. LOL

CA/ALK is maintained by topoff via ATO through kalawasser reactor. I dose 10ml N0POx daily, and started dosing TLF AcroPower 3 weeks ago. Other than that, it's just a couple of drops of Lugol's once a week or when I think of it. My system is 120 gal LPS dominated mixed reef w/40 gallon sump.

I dose 4.4 liters of kalk per day and 22 ml of diy alk (baked baking soda). I dose calcium by hand almost everyday. I recently started dosing vinegar and have gotten up to 35ml per day. Since starting vinegar my pink milli has lightened up and my golden torch is more gold than it was. But I'm not sure if it's entirely because of lower nutrients or higher par from the better water clarity.

I dose 40ml of BRS 2 part via dosing pumps per day. I also use reef energy A and B, twice a week 10ml each.

16 votes on the poll and only 1 that does not dose anything. I thought there would be a few more of those votes.

It's also interesting that the manual vs automatic is just about tied.

For those that dose manually, Just curious if you are planning to switch to automatic eventually or do you prefer the way you're doing it now?

I don't dose anything but I'm not a good example. My tank is still new and I water change a LOT.
