Hi,

my highly thriving, happy, very much alive tuxedo urchin just released some green fluid into the water from the top (looking very much like Phyto feast). It was quite a lot and the water slightly discolored.

What on earth was this? My reseach shows that they do release poop. Nothing about pee or anything else....

Somewhat mortified and wondering if it's toxic.

It's waste, depending on what they are munching on (coraline, calcium substrates) they may release pinkish or whitish pellets. FWIW Males will release white sperm and females will release salmon colored eggs.

Yeah but it didn’t look like either. It was a thin fluid looking exactly like phyto feast in the water.

Figuring out the why: Has your primary reason(s) for keeping a saltwater aquarium changed over time?
