I've been vinegar dosing for a bit over a year, and had thought it'd be a good idea to reduce my vinegar dosing with hopes of no longer needing to. A persistent cyano bloom since gradually dialing back over the past few months has since changed my mind on pursuing that goal. However, as I just begin my slow ramp up, I'm still left with that persistent cyano bloom on several rocks, and continues to return after being siphoned off.

I'm curious if I were to use "Red Slime Remover" would that have an adverse effect on my reef since I am still carbon dosing (27ml a day, 160 gallons of water)?

From what I read, is to run everything like before. Pull the cup for the skimmer, and add a air stone to the DT. Basically the remover starves the cyano using bacteria specifically for red cyano.

I've used red slime remover twice in the last year while carbon dosing with no ill effects. I simply turn off my skimmer for a day and perform a large water change.

No air stone, turn off carbon, I have a lot of flow in my tank anyway.

I dose 15ml of a vinegar/vodka mix

I have a 75 gallon tank with 13 fish.

Thanks Oseymour, once I hear of another person or two with like results I'll give it a go :)
