After putting in some Hydros Flow Meters, and noticing when doing maintenance that the gate valve on the main drain was only open about 1/4 way, I decided to upgrade my return pump from a VarioS-6 to an 8. Since they are both the same size and have the same outflow fittings I thought it would be a simple swap.

As soon as I made the swap, the 8 started making a "humming" noise. I checked the fittings, and everything seems good. Except for the humming. Has anyone else experienced this? Found a solution? Could it be just a bad pump?

Thanks.

Doug

It rigid, no tubing.

I got no hum with this setup in with my VariS-6. It started when I put the 8 in to get a little more flow in the tank.

Try turning pump up/down and see if it changes pitch? Or pull and try running in a bucket of water. It may just be vibrations that are amplified by your plumbing.
