Vertex 200i. Upgrade the pump and run it or just buy new?

So I have this vertex omega 200i which resembles the royal exclusive skimmers in design. I am getting ready to set up my 200 gallon and as wondering if I should upgrade the pump to one of the new kick butt reef octopus models or even a royal exclusive pulp or should I just get a new skimmer all together?

Any thoughts?

Check out my build thread where I did exactly this on my 200i. Royal Exclusive makes a pump that is a perfect substitute - one difference is I also converted mine to an external pump by adding a bubble plate. I expect you’d be fine continuing to run a pump internal though.
