Does this look like something to be concerned with? Breathing looks fine, saw him eat this morning. You can see a few larger white spots on him. Not sure if I’m paranoid or seems sick?

Little hard to see much of anything. Maybe get some photos under whites? I have seen YWG with some greyish blotches/washed out color before. I don't see anything immediately concerning.

How long have you add the fish?

Somebody with more experience should chime in soon though..

Pics are extremely dark to see anything and will need to be reposted under white lighting. Fish does appear a little thin
What foods are you feeding it?

He’s been in the tank about 24 hours. He was at a LFS for about 5 weeks. He’s eaten frozen mysis today and I’ll try some pellets later. I need to fatten him up

Ya it is for sure skinny. I will be feeding it nicely now. @Jay Hemdal i agree that’s what was making me most nervous. Its mouth kinda looks damaged. I’m wondering if it is being chased maybe by other fish and banged it up at the LFS or my tank.

Can you post a video? When I see pictures of a fish and in each one, its mouth is open, that means it is either damaged, or is breathing really fast.

Also - if you you can put an arrow where you see the spot you're concerned about? If I look closely - it seems to me there is some fin damage - but that might be just an illusion in the pictures. (i.e. could there be some bullying going on)?

PS - not meant as a criticism - but if the fish has been in your LFS for 5 weeks - and is that thin, thats a sign that it either it was not eating well - or that there was a problem with it. It is one thing to try to look for before making a purchase. I might call and ask the LFS what foods they were feeding?

Bump. I’m debating just evicting him out of safety

I think it’s a mouth injury he tried to pick up pellets off the sand and couldn’t close his mouth it looked like

I don't see any signs of Brooklynella, but even if it has a protozoan infection (and it could) it has already exposed all the other fish in the tank, so moving it out won't solve anything.

That mouth looks like it was really damaged somehow. If it didn't look like this at the LFS, I would wonder if it got damaged by the net when it was captured?

Dang poor guy, not sure - very well could have. I guess I will just try and see if he will eat more frozen tomorrow. In a sick way I hope it is just that and not something far worse for everyone.

Thank you for the help. I will keep this thread updated as to how it goes.

Awhile ago I had something like this with mine, I did a ton of digging online concluded white spots can mean changing gender, physical trauma, or infection. But not many clear responses on all the sites I visited.

Seems like this does happen quite a bit with them

Regardless mine lived in the same tank many more months and nothing else ever got infected. Not recommending this just putting it out there
