So I got a new buddy who is going into to quarantine and a soon to be 120 gallon fowlr tank! But I noticed these pinkish spots on him. He’s behaving normally other than being stressed from the move. Can puffers get uronema although I don’t think that’s it? Could it be a part of him/birthmark? And he does not have ich those are salt/organic particles in the water.

Typical pigment as they vary. Keep an eye on it though as - Never buy a fish in a shipping bag as fish in shipped bags produce carbon dioxide and ammonia. The carbon dioxide lowers the pH of the water in the bag, That in turn makes the ammonia non-toxic to the fish. When you acclimate them, if not done just right, you drive off the carbon dioxide faster than you are diluting the ammonia. That raises the pH of the water in the bag, and that in turn, makes the residual ammonia very toxic to the fish. Sometimes, the fish will die right in the bag

Thank you! I didn’t know that but it makes sense. Also you haven’t been answering my messages. Are you/we okay?

I’ve never seen Uronema in these, but they seem to get just about every other disease (grin). You’ll want to promptly start a process on it - I use the standard coppersafe then prazi regimen.

So after a very stressful/cold day! From bag to bag to bucket to bowl, a bumpy ride home, and finally to quarantine! I’m very very very happy to report the little guy looks great other than being super stressed. He’s swimming and breathing normally and has no visible signs of disease. Tomorrow I will get him some more decor.
