What’s wrong with my tank? I have brown spots showing up on my rock and my golden hammer looks like it’s dying after 2 weeks of having it. My other corals also aren’t opening up.

What's that behind the hammer in the first photo? A mushroom or a blob of slime? If slime, may be brown jelly. Can you get a photo with more light?

How old is the tank? Looks too new for corals.
I always wondered what that means. I have a 2x2’ frag tank that gets deep cleaned about once a year. Corals sit in a tote for a few hours then go right back into the tank. Never had an issue.

Is your tank hooked to a mature system? A blanket statement like that doesn't give a full picture. Yes but do you bleach or acid wash the media/rocks.

Same, it know it sucks, but really need to give the tank some time to age.

My last tank was up for a few years and still had issues with some coral, even though everything seemed good.

No rocks, sump or sand, except small rubble and tiles the coral is on. Usually citric acid to clean depending how bad scum line and coralline is.

We need more info to help. Parameters sg, alk, calc, nitrate, phos, ammonia, lighting. RO/DI, temp, everything you can give us will help. How old is the tank? though I believe if you know what you are doing this is less of an issue. Water change schedule? What salt? Inhabitants?

So nothing to the rubble
