My discosoma mushrooms have been in my tank for 5 months (tank is 8 months old). They have a few new heads. Recently, over the past few weeks, I've noticed that my mushrooms look very bad and not as colorful as they used to be. I've been checking the parameters weekly and haven't noticed any changes. I haven't made any changes to the lighting settings either. All the other corals in the tank (soft/LPS) seem to be doing well. What could be the issue? Many thanks in advance!

Alka is 9.1, Calcium 400, Salinity 1.25, Phosphate 0.1, nitrates 5.

No changes to flow at all. Nothing has been changed in the tank. Therefore, I am not sure why they're unhappy.

I just realised that a few weeks ago I've stopped dosing phytoplankton. Could that be the issue that cause this behaviour?

The reason is the low nitrates. Perhaps the phyto increased the nitrate, but the answer to your question is 'low nitrate'. As mentioned above, increase the nitrate to 10-15-20 ish.

I am planning to feed more and maybe reduce WC from 2 weeks to 4 weeks, so hopefully I can see increased nitrate level.
