70%, any higher and I would fry all my coral. @ 70% I still have 200 PAR in the far bottom corners.

AP700s.
what meter are you using btw. I did LOVE that light a macna.

edit im guessing 600 at the top. btw.

Question if you guys don't mind - hopefully it will help the guessing guys (like me)... how do you measure under water with a $14 meter? Zip lock bag?

And how much does the water actually difuse the light intensity?
IMO.
and im a rebel. Its nice to know what ya got at the bottom. but you dont have to.
if you know what ya have at the top, you fine, you know the ange.
for most that's plenty. if you want to get into it a milwaukee with a waterproof head is avail for like $80. then if ya can check it with a par meter.
folks grew coral under t5 and mh and never really knew either. seemed to work fine. actually does. mostly you have to balance nutrients alk light and flow, but gradually.

I used a friends Seneye. Close enough for me. The real story is that I literally can not go over 70%, I see it in my coral. That's how I know I have enough light.

I have 5 tangs and several other fish and they eat a lot, 1 sheet of nori every day, about 1 square inch of mysis or brine shrimp flat pack alternating each day with a mix of Hikari pellets.

I have a gross amount of flow, 60X's.

Lots of light.

Higher AlK. About 9-9.2

I'm looking for fast growth to get my young tank going and so far so good.

I'm working to that, my sand doesn't stay in place well at all. I will be adding another 6105, then I'll have to remove it at that point. The recommended 40X's isn't enough IMHO.

It's mostly SPS and acros.

Here is my setup now. I know the glass top isnt ideal for reefing for a number of reasons but i would like to keep it there for now. Not sure the future of this tank either. I might move everything to a 90gal im waiting to set up. Or i might put it in my bedroom as a softie tank. Not sure im so indecisive lol

Imo. thats the way that light is designed. Its fine.
if thats the new Pro with lenses, it gets the same amount of lux at 12 in as the kessil ap700 does. about 30,000.
so 50% is probably a good starting point.
if you didnt want to put a meter in a bag you can meter it dry by doing it off of the tank.

My Kessil AP700s are set to a peak of only 70% mid Blue/White mix for 7 hours with a slow ramp up/down the rest of the day.
