I've read a post here and there by a few intrepid souls stating that they're cultivating phyto on the windowsill -- no airstone or other mechanical movement of water aside from shaking the vessel up every day or so. I'm going the standard route with my main batch, but I have a sunny office and decided to put the dregs of my starter culture and a little F/2, in a 1:5 ratio, into a 1L bottle. I keep it uncapped during the day and do shake it up once or twice a day. It actually is greening up, even though there's no supplemental light source.

Anyone else doing something like this?
