Would you say I have phosphates and nitrates?

Phosphate Hannah kit says 0 for both nitrates and phosphates. Colors on my acros are dull, it's hard to say which way to go right now for myself. Feed more or start lowering nutrients that I don't see on test kits.

4 fish, 60 gallon, feed Acropower 3 ml a day, and feed the fish every night with pellets. So the problem could be having no nutrients that causes the algae?

Sorry. I couldn't tell that was algae in the pic. You must have nutrients for the algae to grow and your kits are probably reading zero because the algae takes up the nutrients so they can't be detected.

How is your skimmer? Do you run any GFO or anything else for nutrient export?

What is your ALk?
If your nutrients are really that low and your alk is above 9 it could be the problem with you acros. Algae will grow in very low nutrients like in the ocean where levels are lower than most peoples tanks and yet algae still grows. I would add so thing to eat the algae and make sure your alk is not to high.

The red algae is turf algae I believe but I get different answers from everybody.

I use liquid phosphate remover when I see the sand start to turn brown in areas, the next day it's always gone. But my corals have been fading lately so I was told that the nutrients in my tank need to go up.

You may need to dose consistently to keep nutrients in check. Do you skim heavy? What kind of skimmer?

GFO or vodka dosing to keep nutrients in check is done by many reefers.

You just get new lights? Looks like diatoms on the sand bed. Looks like maybe Red Gracilia Algae on the rock.
And looks like your SPS is in the shade??

I do skim heavy yes and I'm not sure of the skimmer honestly. It was a custom made one like a life reef or something.

I've always considered doing vodka dosing but didn't know where to start.

No I've had the lights for about 6 months now, and I'm not quite sure I know what red glacilia algae is?

I moved the acro to a more shaded area because it was losing a ton of color.

So your SPS bleached out from to much lighting, and you got the diatom bloom just after you got the lights I would assume.?

Didn't bleach, I got it super browned out and it regained it's purple color but in an extremely faded form. The lights never gave me problems with diatoms, I haven't had them since the first few months of having the tank.

Algae scrubbers are very good too. As Keithcorals pointed out asking about your alk it could have been an alk swing that caused the brown out of corals.

I think I'm confusing everyone lol nothing browned out in my tank, they've came into my tank browned and they regained color but very faded. I think I'll do a algae scrubber to start
