I acquired one of these containers fro free. It's probably about 40gallons or so..

I have no idea what makes a container "safe" to use and don't really know what to look for. I am looking to get away from using brute can's as it seems they are starting to become known to leach PO4.

I believe you just need something thats NSF approved or certified meaning its "food grade". I don't see that listed on the one you have but it would probably be fine.

I agree those are probably fine, but without a statement of the intent being for food or drinking water use, it is hard to be sure.

I'm not even sure what type of plastic they are, although I'd guess polyethylene.
