I am currently treating /QTing a Yellow and Diamond Tail Wrasse. Salinity is matches with store (1.025) and 1.0PPM of CP since it’s the first day of QT. Both had a 5 min FW dip and when returned the Yellow Wrasse buried himself in the small container of sand but the Diamond Tail is swimming and gulping at the surface even with the lights out. I did not perform a Ruby bath because I didn’t see any symptoms of velvet or brooke.

Should I be concerned or is this just normal acclimating to copper for a wrasse(my first wrasses QTing). Also, I do have an air stone and powerhead facing the surface.

Did you use an airstone in the FW dip?

I stopped doing FW dips prior to QT, I just treat with General Cure after the fish have been eating for a few days and followup with Chloroquine Phosphate.
While most will say and show that FW dips are easy and harmless, I have lost fish that just never recovered from the osmotic shock.

Anything I can do or did I kill him
He might be ok, lights off and low stress let the fish rest.

Some fish do take a few hours to recover from a dip.

And I guess I shouldn’t force the yellow wrasse out of the container of sand? I will assess tomorrow, fingers crossed. Thank you

No definitely leave it be. You used RO water and had it up to temp correct? When you did the dip?

My wife said she was swimming around this morning thank god... I won’t make that mistake again.

How am I going to get the yellow wrasse to eat if she’s buried under the sand?

Just give the wrasse time, it will come out. I’ve heard of them staying under the sand for a week or two. Digging it out will only cause more stress.

I can’t see brook in that pic mostly because of the spots on the glass. Either way if you dose the trifecta for the tail the Metro will cover brook also.

Possible Brook? Can tell

Ok only had furan-2 available, started dosing that.

Copper is at 1.44 and I think I will halt slowly raising the copper levels to treat for bacterial infection... or should I continue raising copper(no signs of velvet/ich)?

Do you suspect brook? Are you able to see something we can’t? If so I would go the Metro route just to cover brook.

If you are at 1.44 therapeutic minimum for copper power is 1.50. You might as well bring it up.
