Also what do you consider the best media of your choice?

Activated carbon.
I run a mixed reef and carbon is cheap insurance in the battles and chemical warfare between leathers or soft corals and SPS corals. I keep a small amount in all my systems 24/7/365 as a preventive measure.

My present carbon is the bulk variety from Bulk Reef Supply, its been so long I don't remember which one we ordered at the time on a group buy and split it up between several of us. I think I havs some that is pelletized and some that is medium sized granules or chunks both.

I run only SpectraZorb Phosphate Removal Media and SpectraZorb Granular Activated Carbon is top of the line and after talking to Charles Mitsis. I think it out dos any brand on the market.Try it out and see for your self how good it work and you will never buy any over band again

Bio pellets. They work for me with no I'll effects on a dual system sharing one sump. So from softies to acros no issues. TFL reactor (does what I want it to do) and BRS pellets.

GAC two days a month, GFO the rest of the time ;)

I used to have two reactors, now I just do this, sometimes with a little longer in between running GAC

Been using a TLF reactor filled with Fluval Clearmax. Its a science grade resin designed to adsorb phosphate, nitrite and nitrate. I cut open three bags and drop them in. I replace it every month.
