Your thoughts on this plumbing?

Just got done plumbing a sump into my established tank what do y’all think. I think it’ll work just fine I installed a valve just in case but probably won’t need it.

Usually that is where most put it, but it is not a hard set rule.

What happens if power cycles off than on again?
Have you tested that to prevent flooding?
You might need to drill a small hole in the top of the "U" tube for airline tubing to fit in and connect that to a continuous duty dosing pump or diaphragm style pump like the aqua lifter pump.

Plumbing looks good, Unfortunately with those style HOB overflows i always had troubles with them creating air pockets in the U tube. As stated above i would invest in a aqua lifter if you run into the same issues ive had with that overflow!

You might need to drill a small hole in the top of the "U" tube for airline tubing to fit in and connect that to a continuous duty dosing pump or diaphragm style pump like the aqua lifter pump.

If the power goes out the syphon will break once they water gets below the overflow box and the sump is large enough that water will not overflow.

The return section is where the water level will go down from evap, so it is a pretty hard set rule
