For a while I was debating on wether to get a bigger tank or just stay put with my 39g Signature Cadlight. I wanted more room and space so that I can add more corals and swimming space for my inhabitants. I wanted to stick around the 60g range which I felt comfortable around. So I've been searching for 2 months and decided I wanted the 57g Oceanic Illuminata. I loved the rimless look, but not much in love with it's bulky and large overflow box. I recently found a nice one that was hardly used for 3-4 months and it didnt even have coraline algae growth from the previous owner. So no dead white spots on the background, so basically it looks brand new. I finally got the chance to pick it up and I am more than excited to start this build. My equipments for this build will be slowly coming in and I will document my journey of this tank as time goes on. I'm looking forward to seeing and hearing from other fellow reefers who have had this same tank or similar to it. I must tell you, I am a little overwhelmed with having a sump as I've had all AIO tanks for the past 4 years of reefing. Thanks for the interest, and I welcome any comments, critiques and compliments.

Here is the shot of the tank:

And here is the stand, it has a raised 2" lip that will hide the sand:

Hey welcome! That's a great tank. I'm in the middle of setting up the same tank except mine is a Deep Blue.

I removed the over flow to give me more room because yes the overflow is huge on these tanks!! And I'm just covering the PVC pipes in a nice rock pillar

My sump came in today. I'm really excited to get this under the stand, I bought the Trigger System Crystal 30 sump and I'm really glad I did!

So I got more equipment in the mail, they are surely coming in and everything should be set to get the tank up and started.

I'll be using 2 Kessil A150W Ocean Blue to light up the tank:

The Sicce Syncra 3.0 will be the return pump of choice:

I got the JBJ ATO and Aqualifter to keep water levels up:

I had to get a new Megaflow Overflow Kit for the return:

Nice choice of equipment don't think you'll go wrong there. I was going to say add a union on the return side so you would be able to take the pump off if anything would go wrong with it. But I guess the flex tubing will act the same way. Everything is coming along great.

Finally filled the tank with saltwater, finished painting and reinstalled the plumbing, no leaks! Now I'm just waiting to get my Tropic Eden sand in from UPS today.

Looking good.

Just got a custom 70 gallon rimless I can't wait to get started. The depth is 24" versus the 18" on Oceanic.

I also received my Reef Octopus NWB-110, I will give it a few weeks before actually running the unit, but will place it into my sump to make sure everything fits ok in the compartment.

Here is the tank after placing the sand in, a little cloudy even after rinsing it. Also a shot of my sump with the skimmer in place, everything is coming along.

Looking good. Great start!!! Nice and clean
One suggestion is to take the metal clamp for the return off that is under water.
Keep us posted
