Two months ago my original clown from tank set up 2 years ago mysteriously disappeared. After several days I assume He died and cuc did their job. Two months later, almost to the day, I come in from outside and there he is swimming around with my other original clown like he never left.
Any thoughts on this?

Closest thing I've had to that was I had a midas blenny disappear and I assumed the same as you did (crab food)and then I found him in my over flow a few weeks later.

Either they were hiding in a rock…or someone’s playing a trick

Checked the overflow the day after he disappeared. My wife says Sharkbait is a ghost clown.

He looks rather thin (I’d imagine from hiding for 2 months with little food) but otherwise fine.
"thin".......well he probably doesn't feed a lot of brains......

Sorry, bad joke.. I know.. but I could not resist.

I had that happen with an assessor basslet, but they're known to be cryptic. So strange that a clown would do that...but then clowns are known for strange behavior so... there's that...

Possibly breeding behaviour and was guarding eggs? But the majority of the eggs eventually got eaten and then she gave up on dealing with the kids and ditch the remaining ones.
