Picked up a camera filter hoping that my coral photos would improve. It definitely helped.

I have added 14 corals and 1 anemone to this Display Tank. I purchased these on the ReefTide live sale here at Reef2Reef. They are still in the frag rack, but I will be gluing them to my reef today.

Red Sea.jpg

I am using the Red Sea Foundation system for this mixed reef. I also use Red Sea test kits to keep track of my water parameters. I dose Calcium, Alkalinity, Magnesium, Trace Colors, Algae Prevention, and Reef Energy Plus every day. Bottle.jpg

I purchased these glass bottles on Amazon. They work well for all of my daily dosing. Eventually I will have to set up a dosing system as the demands of the coral increase.

It has been a while since I have added anything to this thread. My coral display tank has been set up for about 1-1/2 years now. I recently added 5 new coral frags that I picked up on the Reef2Reef Live Sale by Living Reef Orlando. Here is a picture of my 150 Tall Display Tank and a few of the new corals.

It has been a while since I added to this thread. I started getting quite a bit of green hair algae in this system. I ordered a "150 High Aquarium Cleaner Pack" from reefcleaners.org. This consisted of 150 Dwarf Cerith Snails, 30 Nassarius Snails, 42 Florida Cerith Snails, 33 Nerite Snails, 35 Assorted Hermit Crabs, and 4 Emerald Crabs. Over time this pretty much fixed my algae problems. Another issue that I had was my Powder Brown Tang came down with Ick. It took a while to trap him so that I could put him in my quarantine tank with Copper and Prazipro. After 5 weeks I returned him to the display tank. The ick did not spread to any of the other fish in this display tank. I attribute this to my UV sterilizer. Powder Brown Tang.jpg

I take coral progression photos every 3 months. This is a good way to ceep track of coral growth. I thought that I would add some of these to my thread. Christmas Favia. Christmas Favia 2022 02.jpg Christmas Favia 2022 10.jpg

Great update! You fish and coral are impressive! It’s interesting that a super robust cleanup crew did away with your hair algae problem. I’ve always had great luck with their livestock

I was very impressed with how their website was set up. Depending on the actual configuration of the tank the clean up crew changed. eg. a 150 long had a different clean up crew than a 150 high.

Quite a few months ago my mother and I were celebrating her birthday in Deadwood South Dakota. My son called saying that my reef tank split a seem. We came straight home and began moving the corals and fish into a different system. Needless to say it has not gone well. I will do an update on everything one of these days.

150 Gallon Reef Tank Broke. April 2023 the back of my 150 Gallon Tall Reef Tank split open. My son and I started the long process of removing all of the water, rockwork, fish, invertebrates, and the corals. I have a 240 gallon acrylic tank in my basement family room. We proceeded to move everything into that system. It took a long time to get things switched over to the larger system. Most of the fish moved fine with no issues but I did lose my Powder Brown Tang and quite a few corals. I have a Tomato Clownfish, 2 Green Chromis, 2 Engineer Gobys, Rusty Angle, Bi-Colored Angel, and 3 Pajama Cardinals. I have attached a photo of how it looked after the move.
