Growth on Snail

Something seems to be growing on one of my dwarf cerith snails. I'm not sure if I should try and remove it or not.

I tried getting a close up by pulling the snail out of the tank.

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?
