I bought a tang a few weeks ago and put him directly into a QT to be safe but of course he started to get white spots after about a week. I have been treating with copper for about a week and a half now and all visible signs have been gone for a few days.

My question is how long should i keep him in the QT before introducing him into the DT?

Most likely it got ich due to stress. It can be caused multiple times in a fish life. Stress, temp change, and salinity change can cause it. Copper is a good cure but dont over do it. In the long run use good food and add additives to it like HUFA and garlic to ensure health. To answer your questions I would leave the tang for 2-3 weeks to ensure health.

if you use copper treatment, then 14 days - 28 days.

Id go four weeks after no symptoms. I used to do two but Ive had it return after two weeks of seemingly being clear.
