Blue soft coral ~ leather, sponge or what?

I can't remember when we got this, but I'm pretty sure we were told it's a small piece of blue leather coral. At the time, we didn't question it, but just for kicks, the other day I tried to get a better identification and well, could not find anything, but saw some sponges which look similar...

    Devils hand help

Hey again. I have a very large Devils hand in my 55 gallon mixed reef, along with many many loose fingers and small devils hands that drop off frequently. It's very healthy, but perhaps not happy at the moment. I say that because while it looks great, it doesn't have any polyp extension lately...

    Loose Gsp

I got a small piece of gsp for free when I bought a clownfish, and it is not attached to anything. I put it in a bowl-shaped rock so it would attach, but so far it hasn't done anything but blow around. Is there a way I can attach the gsp chunk without hurting the coral?

    Duncan "Throwing Up" (zooxanthellae?)

Just moved my duncan to a different spot this morning. I came back this afternoon to this. Mouth is hard to see but looks opened up. I have other duncans close by that are doing just fine. And I didn't move him far from where he was. Maybe 5 inches. This particular duncan had been acting strange...

    Is this Blue Clove coral?

Is this blue clove coral? If so, should I get rid of it right away? Or can it be isolated on an island? I just bought a couple hammer/zoa frags from a guy the other day and saw these in his tank. I'm new to this so I asked what they were. I can't remember what he said, but he said it's his...

    What coral is this?

Refugiums: Do's, don'ts, and what to look for.

Hey all, Thought we could start a thread on how to run a successful refugium. These are important, yet often overlooked, aspects of our ecosystems. Any advice to beginners and advanced aquarists alike would be valued. Thanks and happy reefing. -Mr.Acro
