So fragging experienced individuals: my 2 frags that have 2 corals. Let them establish for awhile? Or now that they are open and look happy, pull a couple polyps off and leave the rest and ince the frag takes off remove the last bit?

It wasn’t that way when I was a kid. After standing at the bus stop in- 35 degrees and get to school they checked me for frostbite. When saw two of my toes had frostbite they sent me to the school nurse who removed them with tin snips and sent me back to class.

I know this isn't true because tin snips weren't invented yet when you were a kid!

Am I being petty or over sensitive? I stopped by the LFS to look at goldfish but the ones they have are sick and not for sale right now. Anyway the owner was talking to two other ladies and when he finished talking to them he totally ignored me and walked of didn't say hi how are you today or anything. I was going to get a couple of plants but that just really rubbed me the wrong way. There is no way he didn't see me because he seen me walk into the fish room and I walked right by them to look to see if they had any new saltwater creatures. He's the only store local so I'm stuck either driving an hour or ordering online if I don't shop there. It's sad because I have spent a lot of money over the years there and I do prefer to shop local but today has me second guessing going there.

Yes we take off everything we can. Luckily he spent a good chunk of the money on equipment for his business so hopefully that will help some.
What is his business listed as?
LLC files differently as say an S-Corp which is different than a sole proprietorship.
Let me know and I can help.
I've owned 2 restaurants and an auto shop over the past 15 years.
It makes a huge difference.

yes it will but equipment total is deducted over a 5 year period. So your only going to get 20% off
Yes.
You are alloted a depreciation over 5 years or you can take it all in one year if you want.

We don't file it as a business we just file it as him being self employed. I try to get him to send in some each quarter but we just never get around to it so come tax time it bites us in the butt...

I think it would help more this year to take it all at once since we had the sale of the property. I think in total he spent about $18,000 on tools and equipment.

Most the time he's not there his mom and sister work there for him and I really like his sister we always talk about our saltwater tanks.

When you are self employed you pay double taxes, personal AND self employment taxes.
Have him file as an S-Corp and he'll be like an employee and you won't pay self employment taxes.
He is still the owner with the same perks.

That's a great idea! It helps some that most of his income is not traceable because its cash...
