I never do my freshwater I have way to many plants in my tanks plus I have trumpet snails that keep them clean. For those of you that don't know freshwater they are like the nassarius snails but smaller they stay mostly in the substrate except for at night and when they sense food.I've never vacuumed my sand. Rarely vacuum rocks in freshwater either though...
Understandable, we want our front/display glass to be tidy. It definitely catches the eye when it’s visibly gross underneath.I might do that because its driving me nuts... lol

I siphon then replace all the time.what are your guys thoughts on siphoning sand? ive heard so many conflicting things. some say dont touch it and let your cuc clean it. others have said absolutely suction it because you need to clean all the yucky stuff out. im just wondering because its getting harder to clean the sand with all the corals. hate disturbing them everytime i clean

I've read older books that said they're hard to keep. Do you have to do anything special for them?didn't take me a year to go big either. Just checked on these cuties since I haven'seen them in like a week. had to feel around for them and get them up. Have had them since July maybe? best sand sifters in there.
