Sup reefers - I missed the boat starting a build thread for my latest project on R2R, but have been documenting on my Instagram @bvreef. Better late than never. So I figure as I approach the 1 year anniversary of my tank, I add some updates here. Finally in a good and stable place, starting everything from frags. Getting a bare bottom tank ready for SPS literally takes forever.

Equipment:
  • 170 Gallon Display: Innovative Marine 170-INT
  • 74 Gallon Sump: Innovative Marine RFS-50
  • Primary Lighting: 3x Dalua Illumagic X4's @ 10"
  • Supplemental Lighting: 2x Reef Brite Lumi Lite Pro Blue @ 10"
  • Skimmer: Reef Octopus Elite 200-INT
  • Flow: 4x Vortech MP40's
  • UV Sterilizer: 40W Aqua Ultraviolet
  • Controller: Apex
  • Doser: Neptune DOS Quietdrive & Ecotech Versa
Target Parameters:
  • Magnesium: 1300
  • Alkalinity: 8-9
  • Calcium: 400-415
  • Phosphate: Under .1

Nice, I setup the 170 ext about 3 months ago and love the tank so far. I was just at wwc's Orlando store a few weeks back and they are running the dalua lights on a new system.

Wow that 170-gallon IM-INT makes a good looking tank.
Thanks! It's a beast. I'm really impressed by Innovative Marine so far. Eurobraced 3/4" glass on all sides and near 1" bottom pane. I had a 45g Red Sea previously, and I was purposefully looking for an overbuilt tank because I'm paranoid about leaks.

Awesome! Love it. How do you like the EXT? I go back and forth on wishing I went EXT for the interior dimensions. But due to the location of my tank I'm tight on space and like having access to the bulkheads / plumbing from under the stand. Coming from a 45 gal cube this was such a huge upgrade I'm happy with it regardless. I would love to see that new WWC system one day. How did you like the look? Coming from Radion its a bit different look but so far my corals are very happy.

I like the ext, but with 30 inch depth, there is plenty of room with int. The lights looked fine to me. The thing that stood out was that it was a new deep tank. Probably 36 inches or so and all acros. Radion struggle for par at depth without the upgraded lense.

Nice! I really like my ext 170. It's will be 9 months old his month.

The ext 170 holds 135g's in the display and 25g's at 7" in the sump so only 160g's total.
With 150lbs of live rock my system holds 150g's.
That's good to know. I have recently been using 175g for my system calculations for additives etc and it's seemed pretty accurate.
