Guess I have to do an official post for an entry. I'd love to win an orphek bar for my "new" tank I'm setting up. It's been in the garage the last year and finally moving (albeit slowly) forward with getting it up. Light bars are going to be needed for supplemental light since it's an IM 200g with 70.9x30x21.

DAILY QUESTION: Have you ever experienced issues with algae growth due to lighting, and how did you solve them?

Only in an existing tank that I purchased and moved. I added new rock, which was quickly overrun with algae. I reduced lighting to 70% (there were corals and anemones in the tank), and did as much manual removal as possible.

DAILY QUESTION: How do you currently decide the placement of your corals based on lighting needs?

Placement of corals is based on PAR measurements, and general PAR requirements of each coral. Then moving them up or down if they seem unhappy.

No supplemental lights for me. I'm using a single AI Prime 16HD, although I wish I had additional lighting for the edges of my 20 gallon long.

I was out of the hobby for a long time. I went from a 250w metal halide to a AI Prime 16HD. I'm loving the adjustability and connectedness. Being able to share profiles with other reefers is great.

Hugely important. Mine is set to vary the entire day.

In my first reef tank I ever had, my xenia was like a weed. I had to pull it out regularly. Great nutrient export.

Being able to tailor lighting for your own personal enjoyment. Before multi-channel LED's, you bought one bulb and you were stuck with it for 9 months.

Enough white spectrum to appear more natural, but not too much to appear ugly.

I would go from a single light to two. I have too little light on the outside edges of my tank.

I have a single AI Prime 16HD. I wish I could get higher PAR levels with a single light. I love the ease of use and the connectedness with others in the hobby.
