I have a 550 Gallon Reef / Fish tank. The tank does qualify as a heavy Bio load tank. I would like an in-sump skimmer. Im not looking to waste money but I want to buy what Is considered the best for my application. Was thinking the Regal 300 SSS Space saving skimmer (500-700Gallons) -Reef Octopus. Royal Exclusive? is it worth the money and that much better than the Reef Octopus? Please let me know your thoughts.

IMHO, that comparison is a bit of a Chevy / Mercedes - they both get you there.

I am a fan of Reef Octopus and have nearly several Reef Octopus skimmers, pumps, and sumps, but the Royal Exclusive is impressive.

impressively expensive.
i've had the same skimmer for a decade now and at the end of the day whether its a mercedes or chevy it just floats pieces of poop up to a collection cup. Now if it cleaned itself and empties itself i could get behind that!
