Does anyone know any good smart monitors for Ph? I can't seem to get any coraline to spread and I think it is Ph. I had some growing and now that spot seems patchy. I do bi weekly water changes and I am curious on how my Ph fluctuates over a course of a week.

How old is the tank? What are the rest of your readings? Ph can change for lots of reasons, you can look at the water the wrong way and the Ph will change lol but maintaining a good balance of the other chemicals will promote the Ph to stay where it is. if you are doing bi-weekly water changes id say the the salt levels could be fluctuating causing the Ph to change.

One tank is six months. The other is roughly six months now because that one had a crash due to a pump malfunction. After the crash I saw some coraline grow. I have the water changes just to keep a good balance of trace elements. I’m getting good diatoms or whatever brown algae this stuff is. It’s not like brown diatom slimy type of algae but it just looks like coraline but dirt

It's nothing to do with pH, just tank maturity.
Remember you have to introduce something with coraline for it to spread.

I never even look at the pH of my tank even though the controller came with a probe.

Save your money and put it towards some rock with existing coraline on it.

Not sure how much you are willing to spend but Hydros has a X3 system sold as monitor only that comes with a temp sensor, pH probe and a point leak detector. The X3 is one of their controllers so you can always add to it later if you want to start controlling things. There is an app and you can access it via the internet from anywhere you have internet access as long as there is internet access at the tank via wifi. Here is a link to it on their site https://www.coralvue.com/hydros-control-x3-monitor-pack

CoralVue is a distributer so you would need to get it from your LFS or a online retailer that carries Hydros. There are several online retailers that carry Hydros. The Hydros system is quite easy to expand. Just get the controller that has the inputs and outputs you need, a command bus cable and at least one terminator. Then create a collective with the two controllers. In a collective all information is shared between the member controllers so you can control an output on one with a input from another. On larger controllers you will need 2 terminators so my suggestion at the price would be to go ahead and get 2 when you get one.

Here is a screenshot of some of the graphs on my iPad. I have way too many to get in a single shot but you can scroll up and down on the page to get to the one you want. You can create your own pages like I did and select what inputs and outputs are displayed on the page. The 42g pH graph here is from my X3. The 42g sampled pH is from my X10. It is in the iV and is used for alkalinity testing but does give a sampled pH reading at the beginning of alkalinity testing.

Reef factory unit is decent albeit a tad overpriced.
App is fit for purpose & gives you the necessary data.

Take a look at your light spectrum. I have found that a couple hours of full daylight spectrum does a lot to increase coralline algae growth.

To answer the question: Kactoily 7in1 there are three models each one is under $200. There's a wifi version at the most expensive.

Patience. 6 months is nothing in this hobby as far as tank maturity is concerned. pH seems to have become a new fad the last couple of years. Personaly I don't even check pH much less monitor it but I'm a simple reefer. image.jpg

the tank was a year old and still had no sort of coraline algae growth or even a hint of it. I even had frags that had coraline as well. I am using mobius AB+ I believe and on my other tank I have a custom preset with my AI. I am just suprised after my tank crash there was coraline growing underneath one of my acrylic frag plug holders after two months and now it is slowly fading away

Have you tested pH to verify its even low? Some tanks don't grow coraline and some grow it fast enought it's nuisance but I've never heard pH mentioned when its being discussed but maybe it is related :thinking-face:
Yea, I stopped testing awhile back because I just got tired of trying to bring it up so I swapped over to water changes and everything seemed fine. I just get these, brown algae looking stuff on my rockwork? It doesnt look like diatoms its just, rock that looks like was dropped in dirt and rinsed one time?

Rock isn't going to stay white.

listen, I invested in a launch, absolutely love the ability to monitor in real time from anywhere, it has a Ph and Temp probe included when you buy it new. Hydros also has the wave engine and the ATO attachments, I like the way I can link up and command everything. Plus, and I say this as I have a hard time talking about the Maven costing around $1200, I cannot wait for it to come out, the bugs reduced, and price dropped.
