AI hydra users

I thought it might be interesting to see my before and after pictures of Sol Blue to Hydra. As you can see, the Sol Blue are more blue and the Hydra shows the coralline algae purple color. The greens and pink colors are better with Hydra, I think. Some people think the Hydra is too pink but I like it. There are for AI modules in both pictures.

Sweet tank man, Im not sure why ppl make such a big deal about the hydra being too pink...i just adjusted mine and it doesnt seem very pink at all in real life. how long were u running the sol's before getting the hydra?

Had the Sols running for a year. Had ten T-5s prior to that and those high end tubes were $200+ to replace every year. My tank is three years old.

I feel your pain. I have 2 6 bulb Sunpowers. 12 24w are about $230 a year in bulbs. I am wanting that crisp led look to the tank again but wasn't totally happy with the Sols.

Anybody else have Par readings of these lights? I heard from one of the guys on here having low par. His lights were really high off the water though.

Ok have a question for you hydra users, I like more or the blue look but like the lens difusers and the uv on hydra, If you turn down the violets do you get more blue, and is the uv a spectrum that we can see or does it just benefit the coral.

Earlier in the thread you guys were asking about coverage with the Hydra's. I contacted AI about our tank(84x30x24) and they recommended minimum 4 units mounted perpendicular to the front edge for coverage. It'll be a while before I can make that leap..

Check out zoaking's pics, they don't seem pink on his tank. Also m88a2 stated that he adjusted his to not look pink. I also would like confirmation though. I ordered upgrade kits and AI is taking their sweet time getting them out. Second guessing my decision to switch from the tried and true ATI T5...........

How large is your tank? the 2 on my 75 seems to be doing well. everything is coloring up nicely. My Red planet and rommel's watermelon seems to have lots of green in it so i'll probably be kicking up my whites a bit more to bring out the reds and pinks. its only been 3 days into 35%whites 70% for both blues 30%violets and 15% or less with other so i'ma give it a few more days. i'll try to post some pics tommorow

They are 16" above water line right now but I am probably going to drop it 3" when I add the new light. I have them on a 4'x3' 150 gallon tank.

I know some people using plant hangers to hold up the lights doesn't look too bad. You just need to have a wall and some wire.

I used square aluminum from Home Depot painted black.

I had a local metal shop make some rectangle aluminum rails with slots
So i can slide the lights where i want yhem for my 140g. Its six feet long. Then just ise thin aircraft cable to hang them. All in all coste 100 bucks and should look sweet

hey I just set mine up and I cant seem to figure out how to setup the light. I was wondering if you guys know how make like a fading moonlight and then at like 1 am, all the lights turn off. Right now my sunrise: 9 am sunset: 830pm. ramp time: 2.
