Hi all, I purchased this piece of stag acro a couple of weeks ago. As you can see in the photo, it has hairy polyp extension and I think it has shown some growth in the tips.

However, on 2 of its tips (including the most right one), you can see there is hair algae growing off it. There is also a small patch of lost tissue on shaded side which is growing algae.

My parameters are:
7.8dkh, 390CA, 10 nitrates, 0.1phosphate

What should I do about the parts with algae?

Thanks!

So i'm not an acropora expert but in my system letting the coral try to heal itself blew up in my face as the algae just kills further and further down until the coral can no longer persist.

either leave it be and healthy tissue should outpace the algae, or if it were me, i'd snip the tip, below the healthy tissue and that will for sure get it growing without any algae on it.

that was my plan too but before you do it'd be nice to hear the opinion of a hobbyist that has a tank full of them to get their impression. we're probably an hour or 2 away from most of North America being home and you'll likely get confirmation or the "what are you telling them responses". lol
i'll be watching :)
