Am i removing my new water?

I have a 150G display, and 50G sump, and im doing aec with neptune dos, my removal like is in the middle chamber where my skimmer is, and the add is in the return . I do 5G a day, for 30G a week, for the whole month. Am i removing new water with the awc? Thought about it the other day and im wondering now

I have always taken old water out from the skimmer section, and added new water to the return pump section. That way I never have to worry that new water is being taken out.

I have my removal line upstream from the add line to mitigate this as well. If my math is correct, with 5 gallons out of 200 being changed out you are changing 2.5% so at most only 2.5% of the new water being added would be removed.. that’s about 1/8 of a gallon or about 2 cups of the 5 gallons you are replacing with.

You’ve got it set up exactly like it’s supposed to be

The removal of “new” water is unavoidable but minimal. It gets so diluted so much between the return and the display it’s not worth worrying about.
